When I read the headline of this article, I thought, “hey, the paper is finally going to actually cover the senate primary.” uh, no, they don’t even mention the challengers name!
Hackett was chased from the race by Democratic congressional leaders, an effort that Democratic Party Chairman Howard Dean decried as “skullduggery.” Now neither candidate faces any significant challenge in the May 2 primary.
Excuse me? How would you even know? Last time we had a senate election, the challenger spent $300 of his own money and got 23% of the vote! There has been no polling, so apparently significant in this case means $$$.
Listening to Bill Pierce’s interview on pundit review, which by the way was excellent, Mr. Pierce mentions that he’s talked to the media and they explained that they do not get involved in “pumping up” candidates.
Obviously that policy is extended to not even mentioning names in a news article on the topic and relevant. This goes beyond the non-pumping up policy and is basically a form of incumbency protection. Not quite the kind of thing the media should be involved in.
Well the good news is that it’s 2006 and I have a blog and if you are as disgusted by DeWines pandering and liberal foolishness as I am, vote for Bill Pierce.
That media excuse is such a cop-out. The Enky for example found a way to cover DeWine’s sole victory in Miami Co. 70 miles up I-75 never said anything about the Pierce win in next-door Clerco or the tie in Preble, which is about the same distance as Miami Co.
I go with incumbent protection, with a dash of hostility to conservatism.
Pierce for Senate. Any word on exit polls????
