Ohio 2nd Blog has popped out of retirement to give us this stunning anouncement:
On Wednesday, Vic Wulsin went to Washington, D.C to meet with Congressman Rahm Emanuel who heads-up the D tripleC and Chairman Howard Dean. Apparently, they left the meeting with a whole new perspective. You can credit Vic for that.
As of Wednesday evening, the race in Ohio’s 2nd Congressional district has been designated a ‘TARGETED RACE”. What that means is that Emanuel and Dean believe that Vic has a legitimate opportunity to win. It also means that resources will me made available to Vic’s campaign from the D triple C and the National Party.
We need to be sure that the word gets spread as quickly as possible to everyone we know. This announcement will hopefully cause contributors to open their check books and support Vic’s campaign. That, is essential for success.
I also appeal to each of you to be generous and contribute to Vic’s campaign now. There is a reporting deadline at the end of this month. Please respond with a contribution…
Unbelievable. I’ve seen only seen one poll, which was done by the Wulsin campaign. This is one of the most conservative districts in the country, Schmidt is very right wing, Wulsin is very left wing. Wulsin has no chance whatsoever.
In the past year and 3 months Jean Smith has beat, in succession, three fellow Republicans, one feisty military Democrat masquerading as a Republican, AND a former congressman from this district. Oh, but this time, the Dems have a chance. What the heck, whatever. Come on Dems pour some money into the 2nd district, tons of money. Certainly don’t waste it over on the Chabot-Cranley race. Nope, right here in the 2nd district, bring it on.
Seriously guys, all Jean needs to do is run one ad the week before the election. The content of the add: Jean Schmidt was former chairman of Greater Cincinnati Right to Life. Victoria Wulsin is endorsed by the Planned Parenthood international. And that will be it say goodnight gracie.
But if the Democrats want to put some money in this, sure I’m for it. I guess they must miss their Air America money pit.
I sure wouldnt mind seeing the DCCC waste their money here. Fine with me.
It appears the Dr. Vic Wulsin does not legally exist. According to the Cincinnati Enquirer her legal name is Victoria Wells. In Ohio I think you are required to use your legal name when you run for public office. Vic’s campaign may be coming to a quick end. For sure her signs will be required to be removed. The OMA and AMA have no record of a Dr. Vic Wulsin.
YOU CAN CALL ME VIC
If you’re not sure what to call Dr. Victoria Wells Wulsin, you’re not alone. The Democrat running to unseat Schmidt in the 2nd District has gone by several names.
Last year, she ran as “Victoria Wells Wulsin.” No hyphen. In February, she announced at a Democracy for Cincinnati meeting that she’s now referring to herself as simply “Victoria Wulsin.”
“I’ve been told that in some parts of the district, the ‘Wells’ smacks of this uppity East Coast thing, so I decided to drop it,” she explained at the time.
But, she said, her driver’s license and medical license both bear the name “Victoria Wells.”
Look her up in the Cincinnati phone book and you’ve got a choice, both attached to her Indian Hill address: “Wells, Victoria” or “Wulsin, Lawson and Victoria.”
Hamilton County voter registration records, however, list her as “Victoria Wulsin.”
“Four names is too many. This year, I wanted it to be simpler,” she said, adding that she may just cut her name even further to “Vic” next time she runs.
Wulsin’s commercials on the local Christian radio station, which I understand they do not want to run but are required to, are incredible to listen to.
