Saddam Hung By the Neck Until Dead

Eye Witness account here at Newsweek. Sounds like they used the long drop method, which snaps the neck and lessens pain and suffering. At Nuremberg the Nazi’s got a short drop.

As a Christian I have no trouble with capital punishment (see Romans 13). And when you have a monster like Saddam, It’s really not an issue at all.

Other benefits:

Saddam can’t come back. It’s not the most unheard of thing in history for a defeated dictator to seize control of his country again and cause a lot of trouble. Napoleon did it. As long as Saddam still lived, that was always a possibility. Outside chance, but still.

To the Baathists, it’s over. Your champion is dead. Things will never go back to the days when you were in charge in Iraq.

To the Iraqi people: it’s over. Saddam is not coming back.

To other dictators worldwide: Let this be an example to you. I’m sure Kim Jong-Il was watching with horror. I’m sure Qaddafi was watching, and glad of the choice he made. Other Dictators should keep Saddam’s end in mind when tangling with us.

UPDATE

Fellow SOBer Right on the right has a video of the entire hanging.

  1. Nix, your post is well-done. I’m pro-life, but in favor of the death penalty, because I believe in defending the innocent and punishing the guilty. Those who argue that the death penalty is not a deterrent must consider this: the dead criminal is forever deterred from committing another crime of any sort. That’s why your point is well-taken that Saddam’s hanging must have been viewed with some trepidation by the likes of Kim Jong-il and relief by dictators such as Qaddafi. Iraqis who have been afraid to come forward with intel because of the possibility of Saddam’s return will sleep better tonite. Sic Semper Tyrannis!

  2. Yeah yeah “keep Saddam’s end in mind when tangling with us.”

I take it you are American right? Its not the Saddam’s and Jong-Il’s that ruin this world it just one person. BUSH. I think we should string him up for all the damage he has done to the world. America is the most hated country in the world because of that man.
So get rid of him and then the world will celebrate.

  3. Cody, you’re nuts, pure and simple. Or stupid. Or maybe you’re just pretending to be a dunder-headed fool in order to stimulate discussion. Whatever your disability is, keep in mind what Tony Blair said recently when some dim-witted leftist told him that America was hated and President Bush was the reason. Blair replied that you can judge how well a nation is loved by noting how many people want in and how many people want out. Makes supreme sense, which means you probably won’t get it, because you’re a dodo (an extinct, stupid, flightless bird).

  4. sorry lads but as christian men do u not believe that any man can be saved and come to god surly by taking a mans life regardless of wat he has done makes the person that commits the hanging as bad as the hanged as it may be? the point i am making is that by taking a mans life it does not give that man the chance to come to god and ask for forgiveness ……sin is sin no matter wat degree i am not a christian and i am in no way a bad person but according to the bible i am for hell with all the rest and is it not true that god will be the judge of all mankind? HE WHO WITHOUT SIN CAST THE FIRST STONE

  5. Dave, humanity has the undisputed right to defend itself against thugs and murderers. Saddam received a fair trial and a just sentence.
That’s more than he ever gave anyone he suspected of opposing his dictatorship. I respect your argument, but I disagree with it.

  8. Dave, let’s look at what the Bible says about you and me being “good” persons. Read Romans 3:23, 6:23, 10:9-10, 5:8 and 8:1. Then read John 14:6, Acts 4:12 and Ephesians 2:8-9. I’d be interested in your comments.

  9. Dave, I pulled this off http://www.biblegateway.com. I encourage you to read it.

Many Christians consider capital punishment an appropriate societal response to heinous crimes, but how can people who are so prolife with respect to the unborn favor the killing of adults? This is a serious question that deserves a thoughtful answer.
One reason some prolife individuals accept the legitimacy of the death penalty is because of the issue of culpability. The unborn are innocent, whereas those who receive the death penalty are adults who have deliberately taken life. Most prolife supporters of capital punishment see no inherent contradictions between these beliefs, given that those receiving the death penalty are found guilty beyond any and all doubt.
A much more important rationale for supporting capital punishment is because it apparently makes sense to God. The Old Testament prescribed the practice. Although Jesus taught us to turn the other cheek when personally affronted, He upheld His Father’s standards of justice impeccably.
The seeming inability of many Christians to countenance the punitive taking of life (regardless of God’s stated approval) speaks volumes about our lack of respect for the Bible. With so many religious and ideological options to choose from in our modern world, it easy for us to throw together a worldview in the same way we throw together a salad at a salad bar. In this sense, capital punishment is much like bean sprouts: you can take it or leave it, depending on your taste.

  10. well anon theres not much i can say after that and i spose it is all down to the individual but u have to understand its very hard for me to get my head round it, this is my opinion and am sure u can all turn round and pick holes in it all day long but here goes i think for us as humans to take a man and hang him in front of the world is to please us i reckon there is a certain amount of satisfaction involved in hanging a man that has been nothing but thorn in the side of the world…. but then this is pleasing to the flesh is it not no different than say lusting over a women its all to please the flesh and thats a sin on its own. again am sure u will all tell me this and that but am sorry its just how i feel

  11. tnp can u not just tell me what it says about u and me being good people i might take a different meaning out of these passages than u do.why i am saying this is that i know many christians and not all think the same and not all take the same meaning out of the bible either

    Posted by dave | January 9, 2007, 4:20 pm
  12. Dave, the meaning in the passages is clear–man is a fallen creature and in God’s eyes is sinful by nature deserving eternal separation from God after death (hell). God forgives man’s sins but only after man repents (turns completely away from the sin) and accepts the sacrifice of Jesus Christ as the payment of the penalty for his sins. Jesus is the only way to eternal life. Please understand this: you can’t be good enough to earn Heaven, and you can’t be bad enough to be turned away if you repent, accept Christ as your Lord and Savior and live your life in an attitude of gratitude to Him for the free gift of salvation. Salvation of the individual is a free gift, but it’s not cheap. It was purchased by the death of Christ on the cross.

Jesus Christ was born. Jesus Christ preached, taught and healed. Jesus Christ was crucified. Jesus Christ rose from the dead. Jesus Christ ascended into Heaven. And Jesus Christ will come again. That is the Gospel.

Dave, God is calling you to Him through faith and trust in His Son, our Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ. Read the book of John (especially the third chapter) and ask Christ to come into your heart. He will come in, if you ask, and you will be forgiven for any and all your sins. Trust Him, and you’ll never regret it. Then find a good church and become part of it so that you can grow in your faith and help others to grow in theirs.

  13. I cannot belive that people can be this ignorant, “As a Christian I have no trouble with capital punishment” WTF is that? I think you should say as a republican asshole I have no trouble with capital punishment!
Personaly I am not a christian infact if there is a god I absolutley hate the ****! Any one or thing that creates an abomination like us deserves to be despised.
My opinion on capital punishment is that the victems or ther familys should be the only ones to decide if a mans life should be taken away from him for his crimes, not a government that is just as corrupt and perverted as the man they are punnishing. I hope you all wallow in the missery you’ve created for your self in life. Oh and p.s. it’s a womens choice what she dose with her body and no one has the right to tell her what she can and cannot do with it. ***n prolife ass mongers! Oh yeah and I am a man.-JE

  14. And one more thing TNP, what kind of god would you have if Adolf Hitler repented right before he took his last breath therfore gaining a “free pass” in to heaven but every jew that he murdered in the consentration camps went straight to hell after induring hell on earth becuase they did not accept jesus christ as there lord and savior?
Christians logic is ideotic at best, your an ignorant prick and you pretend to know more then you do to hide your insecuritys from others. I’ll bet you beat your wife every chance you get.
Also Historians don’t credit atlantis to be real, do you know why? Because it was a morality tale re-written hundreds of years after the tale was origonaly told in the first place.
All your bible is, is a historicly inacurate book that has been re-writen over and over to suite the needs of thoughs in power at that moment in time. I’t has been proven time and time again that “hell” was never even mentioned any of the writings in the bible untill around 300 AD and even then it was talking about a specific place in jerusilum where they dumped and burned there trash and sewage run off. If your going to preach ignorance at least do your damn homework, **** bag.

  17. Cody ( No 2 )got it righT, and the first response tells us why. America believes it knows what is best for all the rest of the world, and will force it on other countries at will. The first excuse for Iraq was WMD’s - known to be untrue BEFORE the invasions; then it was get rid of Saddam; then it became a war on terror. All lies. Be honest George W - it’s all about oil.
