Is there anyone who isn’t running in the OH-2 Primary?

The only reason to replace Jean Schmidt on ideological grounds is that you will pledge not to support pork like the banks project. Otherwise the news about Heimleich, Brinkman, and yes, even Blackwell is about their careers, not what’s best for the 2nd district or even the GOP.

Think Phil Heimlich will be better than Jean on Pork? Ha! Checkout his bio:

Phil has also worked hard to spur economic development in Hamilton County. After watching The Banks - the $600 million development between Paul Brown Stadium and Great American Ballpark - languish for 5 years, Phil stepped in and got the long-promised project moving again. He lined up millions of dollars in federal and state funds and worked with Mayor Mark Mallory to create the Banks Working Group. Thanks to Phil’s leadership, on Friday September 15th, the Banks Working Group announced that AIG/Carter would serve as master developer of The Banks.

  1. I’ll be announcing my candidacy next week, and one key aspect of my platform will be free iPods for all illegal immigrants.

With the etch personalization in their langauge of choice.

Oh - and free federal health care for our nation’s pets. (Isn’t it time?)

  2. And hey, I’m unemployed as well as Phil, Brinkman (next term) & Blackwell), so I guess I should throw my hat into the ring.

    This is a major eyeroll.

  3. It’s certainly not in the best interest of the Republican Party to keep nominating a woman who tries her best to lose a Safe Republican seat. We don’t need to be spending millions of dollars in supposedly safe districts, which reduces the money we have to spend on candidates who legitimately need help. The State Party is already done bailing her out. Schmidt has had her chance to solidify the district and failed. Now it’s time to make way for someone who will win the seat without blowing party resources.

  4. Congresswoman Jean Schmidt will win in 2008 despite Hamilton County-based opposition. Her antagonists within GOP ranks are the primary reason there is less unity among Republicans in the Second District than there should be. Her supporters will do the grunt work for her and get the job done. Count on it.

  5. TNP, in 2006 you assured us that Jean Schmidt would win re-election in a landslide. Instead, she had to survive a recount just to barely win a district that voted for President Bush by 28 points. And she could only pull off that victory by forcing the state and national party to spend millions of dollars on her behalf, costing us seats elsewhere around the country.

Hasn’t this woman caused enough damage to our party? We can’t afford to keep spending millions of $$$ bailing her out because she can’t take care of her business. It’s time to give someone else a chance to solidify this Safe Republican district because Mean Jean obviously can’t.

  6. I assured you that she would win, not that she would beat the Dem by a wide margin. The crap and mud slung by you and your good ol’ buddies narrowed her margin of victory and made it that much more difficult for her to pull off the victory in the anti-Republican political context of the 2006 elections, especially in Ohio.

She didn’t force anyone to give her anything, and it’s breathtakingly disingenuous of you to assume that her victory
–which I’ve already pointed out was made so much more difficult by you and your fellow COASTers–cost Republicans seats elsewhere in the country. That’s ridiculous, but then you already know that, don’t you.
You do everything you can to torpedo her each time she runs, then you attempt to blame her for her four narrow victories. You and your libertarian fanatic cohorts are beneath contempt.

For the upcoming election in 2008, do your worst, CincyJeff.
Believe me when I tell you that she will prevail once again. And the more you spin, the more I’ll be there to tell our readers the truth.
