The one where Voinovich ticks off the entire Ohio GOP blogosphere:
WMD first and foremost with a huge recap post that includes just about everyone.
But especially don’t miss Nasty, Brutish, and Shorts paraphrase of the Hannity-Voinovich interview today.
The Senator then says he has been threatened by people calling his office, telling him this is the end of his political career. “YOU DO NOT INTIMIDATE GEORGE VOINOVICH” he yells. It is the fault of talk radio, he says. But then he says if you don’t like how he votes, you should take it into consideration the next time he’s up for re-election. Sure will, Senator!
Wow, he’s taken leave of his senses and this statement alone proves him not worthy of the grand office he holds. At this point if someone passed me a recall petition I’d sign.
WMD has a warning:
There are consequences to being associated with this disgrace and if we want to avoid another 2006 election, somebody at the Ohio GOP had better start fixing some of these problems. Yeah, yeah, I’ve heard it before: “But, Matt, we can’t do anything to influence the senator.” Uh-huh…pull your support for him and condemn his comments is a good start. The man actually says that he doesn’t want to hear from his constituents! What kind of “public servant” says things like that?
Also points out that Zack Space is to the right (the right!) of Cryin’ George.
Thespis Journal provides a link to the clip. listen for yourself.
And last but not least, Bizzy encapsulates the feelings of a lot of us:
Here is where I boil. On Monday, George Voinovich was so dismissive of his constituents’ time, talents and energies that he was perfectly willing to have thousands of people waste their time, talents, and energies making their feelings known to him when he had NO intention of changing his vote. As important (but not more important), he wasted the time, talents, and energies of dozens of bloggers, Sean Hannity and surely other talk-show hosts, National Review and surely other leading conservative outfits.
It’s one thing to disagree politically, and it’s quite another to be insufferably inconsiderate. George Voinovich doesn’t give a rip about how how rude he was to everyone on Monday.
I’m a never-say-never type of person, but I can tell you that I have no current plans to waste any more of my time on George Voinovich, except to defeat him. All the money in the world wouldn’t have saved Mike DeWine. George is a very slow learner.
[...] NixGuy, among other things, makes the point that Sherrod Brown doesn’t deserve a pass on this either, and has an evening update. [...]
George Voinovich appears desperate to become the next Pat DeWine. We need to defeat him in the Primary. If Rob Portman is planning on running for the US Senate, he needs to do it in 2010 and not wait for 2012. He’d defeat Rinovich.
[...] listen to George Voinovich on Hannity. I didn’t have to, the Ohio blogosphere lit him up like nothing I have ever seen. He should vote the way the people of Ohio have shared that they [...]
Post #2 - I meant to say Mike DeWine. I instead confused him with his son Pat, who is still in office and doing a good job opposing The White Democratic Sales Tax Hike.
I have supported this man in every election not because of his conservative views but only for the hope that he would through the conservatives a bone now and then. What a laugh. I will never be a Rino’s fool again. Defeat this clown in the primary but not with Portman. He needs to be in Columbus as governor. Governor is a better step toward the White House then a senate seat is.
No, Gary, John Kasich for governor and Rob Portman for Senator in 2010. I, too, have voted for GV in every election he ever ran in from guv on. I even raised money for him in 1986 when he ran against Metzenbaum for the Senate. But no more.
Liveblogging Voinovich on Hannity…
[Scroll down, there are numerous updates]Sean’s back after the bottom of the hour break. "Joining us now from the Great State of Ohio, Senator George Voinovich." Phone went dead, Voinovich sounds he doesn’t know where he is….
