Republicans who know who they are…

… and what they stand for:

State budget talks break down

“None of our members will vote yes on a tax increase this weekend,” DeRoche said, surrounded by members of his GOP caucus. Earlier, Democrats gave up on a vote to raise the income tax to 4.6%, after keeping the voting board open for 24 hours. The board was cleared without an official vote recorded, and with only 43 of the required 56 votes needed — none from Republicans.

HT to the David Freddoso at the Corner who brings up the relevant facts.  Other relevant facts:

According to data provided by the U.S. Census Bureau, between 1994 and 2004, the number of 25 to 34 year-olds in Michigan fell from 1.46 million to 1.29 million, a stinging decline of 10.6 percent. The data also indicate this decline is largely attributable to the absence of a Right to Work law in Michigan.

And of course the way to fix that is to raise the income tax by 17%, not address the right-to-work laws.

Michigan needs help, and at least there are a few Republicans who are taking a stand.

  1. Here’s a riddle for you. What do Ted Strickland and the Ohio GOP legislators have in common? They haven’t seen a budget increase they didn’t like. Heck they’ll even throw in some double-speak to confuse the regular guy. Comments from Jon Husted: “On the budget side we were very close.” “We passed a budget with the lowest amount of increase in 10 years.” PUUULEEESE!!!! Michigan may be in serious trouble but our own legislators don’t seem willing to learn the lesson. At the rate we’re going we’ll be lower than Michigan soon.

Can we please have a meaningful primary in this state so we can weed out some of the RINOs and then have the instestinal fortitude to unite behind the winner instead of going off in the corner somewhere and sniveling about our particular candidate losing? Maybe then we could have some Republicans who know who they are and from where they came and who put them there!!!
