Dell’s iMac Killer

I disagree with this review, the new Dell XPS is better looking than the iMac.

  1. The Dell looks better, it’s true. But I’m gun-shy when it comes to Dell products. The last 3 PCs I bought from them got progressively buggier and their service department’s lack of English fluency makes service calls agonizingly frustrating.

    I’ve reluctantly switched to Lenovo.

  2. You’ll be MUCH happier with Lenovo… My experience with their laptops has been superb and I am not saying that because I used to do some work for them…I am genuinely impressed with the IBM/Lenovo laptop products.

I like their desktops/towers too…but the laptops are vastly superior.

  3. The IBM/Lenovo laptops are business line pc’s. The true comparison would be with the Dell Latitude, NOT the inspiron line. Inspiron has been getting better, but Latitudes have always been very good. I should know as I run a fleet of them at work.

I do like the IBM/Lenovo Thinkpad line, good tech, nice fast.

  4. Hi Dave, thanks for the feed back and glad to hear you are impressed.

Ruddle Pirate, The XPS One as part of the XPS line has a specialized support team that is highly trained on XPS systems and based in North America. I just bought a new XPS and needing to just check a couple things. The hold times were nil and the agents great.

We dropped the ball in the past, but we heard you, our customers, and are onb the way back. Sorry we lost you as a customer.

Hopefully we will regain your confidence with time.

  5. Wow. I think Dell is getting serious about this internet thing.

  6. That was fast. For the first time in a very long time, I can say today that Dell just impressed me. If they keep paying attention and keep addressing our concerns, we former Dell owners might change our minds and buy Dell PCs again.

  7. Dell, Inc. pays attention to blogs…

At 9:20 AM this morning, Dave at NixGuy.com posted a blurb about Dell’s XPS competing with the Apple iMac. At 10:51 AM, I left a comment criticizing Dell and explaining why I now own a Lenovo. At 5:05 PM, someone named RichardatDELL left the following…
