A New Media Meltdown

If you like Tech, are interested in New Media and the intersection thereof, you probably know about this story, of which

Jeff Jarvis has a good run down and Jill links to more.

Anyone can have a bad day and blow up an interview by not gauging the audience properly, I understand that, but she exacerbated the problem with a defensive posture that she continues after the fact.  I would argue that the defensiveness and counterattacking probably quadrupled the damage she did to herself.

Two points:

-to repeat a comment I left at Jills, if you’re in Journalism and the story is about you, you’ve screwed up bigtime.

-If you can’t be a good example, you can still be a horrible lesson.  In this case, journalists and interviewers, understand the audience and that the questions they want to ask are more important than your personal relationship with the interviewee.
