BUENOS AIRES, ARGENTINA (FEB/08/2012).-President Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner announced that Argentina will report to the United Nations (UN) “new militarization” of the South Atlantic from London, after the British decision to send a modern destroyer to the Falkland Islands, whose sovereignty dispute both countries.

“We are going to lodge a protest with the Security Council by this new militarization of the South Atlantic, which implies a serious risk to international security,” said Fernandez at an event at the Casa Rosada (of Government) to less of two months of the 30 anniversary of the war between Argentina and Britain for possession of the Falkland.

The President noted that the Falklands “is a regional cause because they are making the South Atlantic once more.” “We cannot in any other way to interpret the sending of a modern and huge destroyer, accompanying the Royal heir (by Prince William), which we would have liked to see it with civilian clothes”.

The President convened the Act opposition and social sectors when there is an escalation of tension with Great Britain after the arrival to Malvinas of Prince William for a mission as pilot of the air force, which Argentina described as “provocation”, and the announcement of London that will be sent to the Islands to the Destroyer “HMS Dauntless”.

Latin American countries have expressed their support for the claim of sovereignty of Argentina Islands in the South Atlantic, under the control of Great Britain since 1833, and in particular the members of Mercosur (Brazil, Paraguay, and Uruguay, as well as Argentina) decided to prevent entry into their respective ports of ships flying the flag of Falkland.

Previously, Fernández signed a decree that desclasifica the “Rattenbach report”, discussed the military and political responsibilities in the war of 1982 and, he said, will be “released to the world in 30 days more”.

The “report Rattenbach”, so called because it was prepared in late 1982 by Lieutenant general Benjamin Rattenbach, was then declared secret by the dictatorship (1976/83) and never broadcast.
