The demand for studies of higher level in the UdeG surpassed the opening of new careers in the Centro Universitario de Tonalá.

University authorities admit having been overwhelmed by demand

GUADALAJARA, JALISCO (24/Jan/2012)-the coordination of Control School of the University of Guadalajara admits that they have been overwhelmed by demand, and although grew up in thousand 500 spaces level higher compared with 2011, rejected a large number of applicants: 54% of young applicants.

“We have sustained growth, and this semester grew particularly by the opening of the Centro Universitario de Tonalá.” “On average we grew mil 500 places, but had two thousand 200 applicants more than last year, and in that sense, the demand is greater than the coverage”, said the Coordinator of Control school, Roberto Rivas Montiel.

According to graphs presented, for the 2012 cycle in the UdeG there were a total of 31 thousand 153 applicants for a space on the level higher, while students admitted were just 14 thousand 273, by what percentage of rejected equals 54.18%. The problem is aggravated in the metropolitan area, where only 38% of applicants are admitted.

Centro Universitario de Tonalá gave a breather to demand in the metropolis, since it had a coverage of 100% of applicants with 679 new students, and there are still spaces.

“In the range of careers most defendants, the degree course in medicine and lawyers remain as that more applicants have, we now have the surprise that the nursing baccalaureate passes to third, followed by the Bachelor’s degree in administration”.

There are 852 spaces available in the regional headquarters of the UdeG, and in the city barely there are a couple of places in degree courses in sociology and geography, which can be ordered online or in university centres.
