The Secretary of health, Salomón Chertorivsky, urged the population has carry protection and hygiene measures

Mexico City (08/FEB/2012)-Salomón Chertorivsky, Secretary of health, said still be expect between three and four weeks of increase of cases of influenza H1N1 in the country, i.e., he said, the increase of cases can go between the 900 thousand 400 confirmed per week.

However, he said is expected that this number of cases will decline from March and end in April.

Interviewed at the end of the ceremony for the 10th anniversary of the Federal Commission for protection against health risks (Cofepris), Chertorivsky clarified that the cases recorded so far is within expected and pointed out that this virus is moving northward. Hence, he added that, in United States, they start to submit cases of H1N1.

However, he said that, according to scientific studies, drought is a factor which discourages the spread of this virus.
The official said that more than 90% of influenza H1N1 confirmed cases have been mild and has not required hospitalization.

He even stated that National Institute of respiratory diseases (INER) which in winter is at the maximum capacity of attention, is currently at 80%.

Health Secretary urged the population has carry protection and hygiene measures and that if a child is sick not take to school to avoid contagion, but will be attended by a doctor.
