With nearly all polling stations closed and 12.5% of the votes counted, Romney got 40.8% of the vote, according to early estimates of the U.S. media.

His rival, Newt Gingrich got second place with 26.2% of the vote, ahead of Ron Paul with 19.2% and Rick Santorum with 13.6 percent.

With yesterday, Romney prepares for its third victory against Gingrich, defeating him in New Hampshire and Florida.
