Mexico City (FEB/08/2012)-last February 3, the balance of international reserves of the country stood at 148 thousand 129 million dollars, a new historic maximum level which means an increase of $ 748 million compared to the previous week, according to the Mexico Bank (Banxico).  

In its weekly account status, precise weekly variation in international reserves resulted from the sale of Petroleos Mexicanos (Pemex) $ Banxico for 750 million dollars, as well as a reduction of two million dollars by the change in the valuation of the international assets of the central Institute.  

The central bank details that you have growth with the increase recorded in the referred period, accumulated five thousand $ 653 million with respect to the end of 2011.  

Mentions that from January 30 to February 3, 2012, it carried out market operations open with banking institutions to offset a net liquidity crunch by 17 thousand 884 million pesos.  

This reduction, explains, was the result of contraction due to the deposit of resources into the account of the Treasury of the Federation and other operations by 19 thousand 048 million dollars and an expansion, result from the sale of dollars from Pemex to the Banxico by nine thousand 690 million pesos.  

Also, from a contraction by eight thousand 526 million pesos, derived mainly to greater demand for euro banknotes and coins by the public, adds.  

With regard to the monetary base (banknotes and coins and bank deposits on current account in this Institute), Banxico adds that this increased eight thousand 526 million pesos, with which reached a balance of 733 thousand 279 million pesos, which involved an annual variation of 12.5 per cent.
